Background

Since 1983, the Jersey Gators have been a formidable swimming force in New Jersey and nationally.

In 1990, Sussex Warren Aquatic Club (SWAC) merged with Jersey Gators and reunited Ed Dellert, the head coach, with his former assistant coach, Lou Petroziello. At Fanwood Scotch Plains YMCA, the duo's team finished 7th and 4th at YMCA Nationals with many national finalists.

In 2008, Cullen Jones swam to a gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games on the 4x100 freestyle relay that defeated the French in a dramatic fashion. Cullen joins former 1992 Olympians Scott Jaffe (Bronze medal) and Ron Karnaugh as distinguished Jersey Gator alumni.

The team continues to create a base for swimmers of all abilities for future successes in swimming and life.
